Text Box: March Lawn and Garden Workshop WAS a HUGE Success!

Last Month we held our first Lawn and Garden Workshop
of the Season on Composting and Raised Bed Gardening.
In a word, it was FUN!

Judy kicked off the evening with a great presentation on
Composting. Click Here for More information on Composting.
She covered composting basics and various methods of
composting. Most of all, Judy made composting look easy,
because it is!

Sharon followed up with a great presentation on raised bed
gardening. We even planted this great garden that night! She
explained that the advantages of raised bed gardening include
Raised beds warm more quickly in spring, allowing you to
work the soil and plant earlier.
							Raised beds drain better.
The soil in raised beds doesn't get compacted, because they
are constructed with accessibility in mind.
It's easy to tailor the soil for your raised bed to the plants you
							plan to grow there.
After the initial construction process, raised beds require less maintenance than conventional garden beds.
Sharon even included her secret recipe for raised bed garden soil success!

Following Sharon’s presentation, Sandy demonstrated
how to best plant a Topsy-Turvy Tomato Planter.
Advice included lots of watering and fertilizing weekly
after the plant matures.
